With school starting today in Fauquier County, we were nostalgic about the Salon Emage Style Team’s last visit to school in March of this year. Your Salon Emage Style Team did hair and makeup for Auburn Middle School’s production of Leader of The Pack – The Ellie Greenwich Musical. It was a blast working with all these talented kids (and there a BUNCH of them!). Aveda Essential Oils

Guest Blogger – Alissa Jones

“Aromatherapy” is the practice of using the natural oils extracted from flowers, bark, stems, leaves, roots or other parts of a plant to enhance psychological and physical well-being.     In Aromatherapy Massage, these oils are added to the body butter used to enhance the overall massage experience.  We call these natural oils, “Essential Oils.”

It is also widely believed that the inhaled aroma from these “essential” oils stimulates brain function. Essential oils are absorbed through the skin, where they travel through the bloodstream and can promote whole-body healing. One example of this is Lavender, which is well known for promoting a sense of relaxation.

Some ideas for using relaxing Lavender oil in your home:

-Add to bath water for soft, smooth, aromatic soaking.

-Dab some on a tissue and place between pillow and pillow case for calm and restful sleep throughout the night.

-Wipe lightly over light bulbs so when the lights are on, the aroma emanates through the room.

As you may know, SALON EMAGE DAY SPA is an official AVEDA hair salon, and we are proud to announce that we have now added Aveda Essential Oilsto our product collection.  Beginning immediately, the same oils being used in massage in the spa are now being offered to our clients so they can experience some of the many benefits at home.

Make an appointment today for an “Aromatherapy” Massage and we can further discuss the many benefits and uses of Essential Oils.

I look forward to seeing you soon!

Have a blessed weekend!

Fall naturally brings change.  The leaves change from bright greens to hues of red and oranges, the days get shorter and cooler and the air begins to smell like fall. Salon Emage wants to help you take that step into fall with a little something for yourself, a new look. You may have been coming to the salon for years, maybe you are new to the salon or maybe you have used the salon for services other than hair.  Anyway you come to us, and we want to take a few weeks to let you get to know our team members a little better and get some style tips, too. First, we introduced you to Sam. Now here’s our NEW Artistic Director Ashley Gray…

Artistic Director Ashley Gray

Flipping through magazines can always be a great place to look for a trendy hair cut and color. As for taking that leap of faith from a magazine model to your own head of hair, well that can be challenging. However, it is easier when you are working with a hair stylist who’s pictures are in the magazines. Recently promoted to Salon Emage Day Spa’s Artistic Director position, Ashley Gray not only graduated at the top of her class from the Graham Webb Academy, she has done hair for the stars (actrees Rachel Leigh CookMiss USA International Casandra Tressler, and author Susan McCorkindale), is a regional educator for UNITE and has her work splashed across magazines including Nashville Lifestyle Magazine and Council Magazine.

Ashley is the type of person who has always found herself submerged in fashion. That coupled with a niche for creativity and passion for working with people lead Ashley to the perfect career path, hairstyling. What she enjoys most about working with hair is that big reveal moment when clients are able to see their new look for the first time, and they light up with excitement and feel beautiful.

While short hair is Ashley’s favorite type of hair to work with, she enjoys coloring and cutting hair the most. She believes in giving clients a textured and trendy look that is the perfect mix of fun and cutting edge but not too over the top. To keep your hairstyle looking its best her favorite products are, Unite

Expanda Root Litter and Unite Tricky Spray Wax.

Ashley’s fashion trend for Fall: ombre hair color and feather extensions. Be sure to call Salon Emage Day Spa at 540.341.4052 to make your appointment with Artistic Director Ashley Gray today. collection also features four brighter more fun colors for those daring folks who like to go against the odds, of brights are for warm weather only.  This is one collection I feel has something for everyone whether you are into dark or bright colors.  My personal favorite in this collection is “I Eat Mainely Lobster” because it’s bright, fun and goes well with all the colors of fall.  Bring yourself in to the salon for a test drive of these new fantastic nail polishes.

Pooch Shampoo

It’s that time a year again; time to turn the salon over to the dogs!

Bring your pooch out Saturday, August 21 from 10 am to 2 pm and let us give them the royal treatment. Our stylists will be giving your best friend a bath, treats and special bandana to remember the day by.  Best of all this day supports one of our best friends the local Fauquier SPCA. That’s right the day of pampering is on us, just please don’t forget to make a donation to the SPCA. They are in extra need of our help this time of year as they have been running at almost capacity.

If you can’t make it by August 21 please stop by the salon a make a donation. We will be accepting donations from August 1-21. Let’s see if we can make it to our goal of $1,000 this year for the little pooches.
