Hair and Makeup by Salon Emage Day Spa

Santa Clause is coming to town…

If you are going to be rocking around the Christmas tree at holiday parties make sure to include your hair as a fabulous accessory. Buns, ponytails and half dos are all the rage this season. Here are some helpful hints on how you can have perfect party hair, too!

Buns! To create a loose bun curl hair using figure eights while holding curling iron vertical. Then place hair in a low, loose bun.  Textured buns can be created by blow-drying hair with a diffuser and then creating spirals with a small curling iron. Buns can then be created either halfway or low on the head. Be sure to consider the neckline of your outfit and jewelry accessories when determining where to place your bun.

When creating a pony be sure to tease all the hair around the crown of your head, creating a pouf. Next gather strands into a low ponytail. You can also try placing the pony on either side of the head to create dramatic effects.

Hair by Sam Perry. Makeup by Charla Malone.

Half dos can be created by pulling half the hair up. Consider creating glossy waves by washing and blowing dry hair as normal and then curling hair using a large-barrel curling iron, brushing through the spirals. Or to create a more beachy, relaxed half do look; start by washing and keeping hair damp. Then use a mousse to scrunch hair, curling some pieces with a curling iron, and pulling the top half of the hair back at ear level.

You better watch out…you better watch out for these holiday hair no-no’s.  Mistakes that can take your look to the top of the Santa’s no-no list include: too many tight curls coming from an up do, using gel to create crunchy curls, more than one hair accessory, teasing your hair too much, hair claws that come any shape or form, and using too much product.

You better not pout, you better not cry…let the staff of Salon Emage Day Spa take care of your holiday hair needs. Make sure to book your appointments soon and let our staff give you the perfect holiday up do.

There is no mistake the holidays are upon us and with the holidays come gifts to give and receive. There are all types of gift givers: those that excel, those that love to give but never know what to give, the last minute shoppers, and the year-round planners. Whatever your gift giving style this season remember two things:  keep your shopping local in Fauquier County and consider giving Salon Emage Day Spa gift cards.

At one point or another someone has wanted to take their stylist, manicurist, massage therapist or facialist home with them, and while we can’t wrap your favorite service provider in holiday paper for you to give as a gift, we do have gift cards and we will wrap them for you free of charge. Gift cards can be purchased for any service or in any denomination on our website at  www.salonemage.com. Salon Emage gift cards can ship to any U.S. address making them the perfect gift to ask for from out of town relatives and easy for them to purchase and give to you!

Still looking for the perfect gift for that hard to shop for person? Salon Emage Day Spa offers spa packages that relax, rejuvenate, refresh and restore. Spa packages may include a variety of services: hot stone massages, manicure, pedicures, Swedish massages, European facials, hair masques, and a lite lunch is provided with every spa package. Artistic Director Ashley Gray

Flipping through magazines can always be a great place to look for a trendy hair cut and color. As for taking that leap of faith from a magazine model to your own head of hair, well that can be challenging. However, it is easier when you are working with a hair stylist who’s pictures are in the magazines. Recently promoted to Salon Emage Day Spa’s Artistic Director position, Ashley Gray not only graduated at the top of her class from the Graham Webb Academy, she has done hair for the stars (actrees Rachel Leigh CookMiss USA International Casandra Tressler, and author Susan McCorkindale), is a regional educator for UNITE and has her work splashed across magazines including Nashville Lifestyle Magazine and Council Magazine.

Ashley is the type of person who has always found herself submerged in fashion. That coupled with a niche for creativity and passion for working with people lead Ashley to the perfect career path, hairstyling. What she enjoys most about working with hair is that big reveal moment when clients are able to see their new look for the first time, and they light up with excitement and feel beautiful.

While short hair is Ashley’s favorite type of hair to work with, she enjoys coloring and cutting hair the most. She believes in giving clients a textured and trendy look that is the perfect mix of fun and cutting edge but not too over the top. To keep your hairstyle looking its best her favorite products are, Unite

Hair by Ashley Gray featured in Nashville Lifestyle Magazine

Expanda Root Litter and Unite Tricky Spray Wax.

Ashley’s fashion trend for Fall: ombre hair color and feather extensions. Be sure to call Salon Emage Day Spa at 540.341.4052 to make your appointment with Artistic Director Ashley Gray today. Do you have long, natural wavy hair? Do you think you have feet that are better kept in shoes? If so, you need to meet Sam Perry, our nail technician

Stylist & Nail Tech, Sam Perry

and stylist. Sam is a native to Fauquier who found her love for cosmetology in high school. She is right at home using her creativity to make others feel better about themselves and add that sparkle of fresh beauty to either their hair, hands or feet!

She is a bubbly person who enjoys meeting new people and making new relationships with clients. Best of all long, natural wavy hair is her favorite hair to work her magic on. She has many, many tricks up her sleeve for working with your natural hair and a lot of great options to try. Sam’s must have product for your hair, 7 Seconds by Unite. Not only does this product work magic on all hair types but it conditions and detangles all while protecting the hair from sun damage.

Best of all she promises that she has seen hands, feet or hair worse than yours so give her a chance to give you a complete new look. If yours are the worse, she promises to keep it her little secret. However, a tip she has for your feet to keep them looking their best is to use a foot file several times a week followed by a nice thick lotion. This tip will help prevent and alleviate callused feet.

Sam’s fashion forward for Fall, natural. Consider using natural colors on your hair with natural textures to keep you in style this Fall. Be sure to call Salon Emage Day Spa at 540.341.4052 to make your appointment with Sam today.
